Writing text and drawing are linked by material(graphite on paper) and the desire to transfer information. While this transference includes body language, technology has brought us new forms of communication. To create my drawings, I take the physical actions of communication, which do not contain graphite and paper(like nodding or typing,) and make a transcription of my body engaged in the act. I use codes, like my email passcode or Morse code, and I decode(or perhaps recode) them. I enjoy the contrast between the often hidden act of drawing and the videotaped evidence of the process.
